The new 116D is the cheapest of the BMW diesel, less polluting and cheaper model of the BMW range ... And 'one of the best. In fact, it's more like a hatch, you can buy, period.
The flagship 116 is the lowest of all BMW 116d nicknames, but does not mean 1.6 liters - is the same 2.0-liter diesel lump that appears in the 118d, 120d and 123d, but here producing 116bhp and 140 lbs feet is below the 176bhp and 258 foot pounds in the 120d, but advance the lowest levels, with the clever start-stop technology that was in the BMW for a while means that the fuel economy of 64.2mpg and rises to 118g/km of CO2 falls. These are impressive figures and pose serious problems for their opponents - who are almost as good as the VW Golf Bluemotion, but with the advantage of much more (116bhp 105bhp plays).
It is not just a document in the figures, however. Do not you feel cheated at all 116D guide. The motor does not rattle too much to a minimum and remains smooth, always a red line - is also very refined at highway speeds. It 'still below the 120D grumpy, because they feel less stressed.
And do not think these figures are lower power news badly. You always get six speeds in the 116d and 140 foot pounds of torque is enough to push lick at a reasonable price. There is certainly no need to constantly change down to maintain the sweet spot of the engine torque curve, which is higher than 1,600 low speeds effectively.
But the single most important thing is 116D, as it rides. Since this is a bargain-basement of the BMW, run-flat tires, which usually get 1-Series is thrown away and replaced with normal tires (puncture repair cans and foam layer of the boot). Space saver is not here. You can still choose to run flats, £ 175, but if you are a bit 'of the spine, do not worry. BMW 116D shows that are naturally well-damped and excellent guide - flows through the holes in the pot really, really good - and also that the run-flats are the curse of the whole process.
